The Google Branded Android

AndroidWith the aim of encouraging further growth in the mobile phone market, Google has put a whole lot of resources into the Android operating system – an open source Linux based OS strictly for mobile phones – and with plenty of new Android handsets starting to up, it seems they really hit the nail on the head. However, it now seems that Google want more; they want to launch their own device which could possible appear on shelves before the end of the year. (Something I am personally jumping out of my chair over – or I would, if my laptop wasn’t going to fall to the ground.)

The company is working alongside a currently unnamed smartphone maker and from what we know it seems that the handset could be one of the most competitive devices to hit the market, much like the highly anticipated Motorola Motodroid. It is speculated it could be the fastest and most powerful device to run the Android operating system to date, including the Motodroid. The Google Android mobile phone will be using a Qaulcomm processor, although we don’t know yet whether or not it will be one of the Snapdragons, along with Android operating system 2.0. (So far version 2.0 has only been used on the Motodroid.)

The new mobile phone could be out this year according to Northeast Securities analyst Ashok Kumar, who also says that the model will be available unlocked through retailers immediately, which is refreshing compared to phone manufacturers who rely on contracts with carriers to sell their phones bundled with a plan.

We don’t mind if the device is on a plan or not at this point; it is looking more and more like the iPhone rival we’ve been waiting for, and with Google behind it, it could just have what it takes.
