It is an all new build and many people do not realize the impact this has on everyone. The Google Android 2.0 Éclair already places a large gap between the old Android versions and the latest with the upcoming 2.1 update . Google seems to be moving forward without taking a moment to look back. Is this good? Is this bad? Is this too fast? Software analysts and experts have mixed reactions with the pacing and amount of updates each new version brings. Right now, we consumers are just trying to get what is available to us. The real question is: when will they release a platform worth staying on for a good while?
Nobody buys new hardware for every new version of an operating system that comes out. It is expensive to do it on a mobile phone and totally unfeasible with computers. Just look at the Microsoft Windows desktop operating system. There are still plenty of people across the UK, even all over the world who refuse to migrate from XP to a newer OS.
While we can all say that Vista is too unstable or requires too much hardware or even more commonly said, too expensive to purchase; the new Windows Ultimate 7 is being offered for free and yet a lot of people are still stubborn about converting.
We consumers do not care about new hardware or newer versions. Really, we do not. We care about what works, about what our friends and families tell us that works, what we have experienced as efficient and what we are familiar with.
I am all for innovation and pushing the limits of technology, but there really is no rush for developers to make something new and there really is no race for me to spend so fast. Let me enjoy my good old Donut, and when I’m done with it, I will move on to the Éclair, then the Flan. Just don’t rush us.
