Nokia has plied the route of Samsung and also announced that the impending release of a new mobile phone specifically designed to display TV pictures through DVB-H technology and also a built in Electronic Program Guide (EPG) which makes it easy for users to create personal channel lists.
There are indications that this device will be known as Nokia 5330 Mobile TV Edition and is presently targeted towards Switzerland, Austria, Finland and Holland. Other countries in Europe and Asia are also expected to receive this device, as well as Africa. It is believed that over 300 million users worldwide will watch TV from their mobile device by the year 2012.
Nokia 5330 is expected to go for a price of €155 and has similar features as its predecessor. Its features are in fact similar to 5330 Xpress Music and possesses a 2.4 in QVGA display. Its data transfer facility is very fast as this is done via 3G technology and a 3.5mm headphone socket is available to aid listening to favourite TV programmes of choice.
This new release from Nokia has also got a built in camera with a reasonable specification of about 3.2 mega Pixels. It allows users to access Nokia’s Ovi store and a host of social bookmarking sites such as Facebook and Myspace. Not to forget access to YouTube for viewing favourite videos while on the go.
