Sony Ericsson is having a tough month. With the latest problem with the Satio causing the device to be suspended from sales on the Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U, the new Aino has been reported to have problems and will be having its launch delayed.
The Symbian based Satio sports an impressive camera and excellent media playback features. The device used the S60 OS and has a stylish Sony-made interface on top. SE had a lot of faith on this device and aggressively marketed it. However, just recently, many owners of the Satio were complaining that the phone started behaving slowly, lagging, crashing and in some cases, files such as ringtones went missing.
The lack of a hardware fix forced the two retail stores to suspend selling the phone.
With this problem plaguing the Satio, it comes as to no surprise that the Aino is not getting much publicity. The device uses Sony’s own proprietary OS –which is claimed to be the reason why the Satio has been pulled out (Vodafone and other carriers have not pulled out their copies, as their copies of the Satio are not having any problems).
For both devices, no fix has been released. Sony has not issued a date or expected timeline for the issues to be resolved. The only thing for certain is that the launch of the Aino has been delayed until Sony does fix the issue. Reports indicate that the Aino’s problem lies with the touch screen and the Bluetooth functions. Whether these two problems are separate or link is still not known.
The pulling out of two major devices is a blow to both Sony. Sony has its own share of troubles recently; they recently closed down several locations across the world. The company has had financial setbacks since last year and has not reported any significant earnings.
