X10 Proving to be a Bright Light in Sony’s Future

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10The XPERIA X10 has a lot on its shoulders; mainly the future of Sony Ericsson.

Well, maybe that is exaggerating, but there are certainly some who see the point. While this is not the only device in SE’s 2010 line up, it is certainly the most high-end device the company is offering. And while this will not generate the most sales or profit, it is the device that will carry the flag of SE for the next few months.

Anyway, videos of the X10 in action have been uploaded and the phone is as impressive as it sounds. Here you get to see the onscreen keyboard, the messaging function and the user interface.

As you would expect, everything runs fast. Speed is the name of the game when you have a Snapdragon 1GHz processor running inside your phone. Loading the menus, running up a new screen, it all takes just a blink of an eye. The transitional animations are very fluid, giving a smooth and seamless feel to using the X10.

Some might feel that the X10’s design is a little too old or simplistic. Indeed, it lacks that rugged futuristic styling of the DROID or that sleek look of the HTC Hero, still the X10 has its charm.

The XPERIA X10 is slated to be launched next year; the device will bring the Google Android and a 1GHz processor together in a mobile phone with an amazing touch screen and impressive camera. It will be facing off against the Hero and the DROID (Milestone in the UK), as the two other devices will feature updated versions of the Android. Milestone comes packed with version 2.0 Éclair and the Hero is confirmed to be upgradeable from version 1.5 Cupcake to the new 2.1 Flan. The X10 comes with the version 1.6 Donut operating system and it has yet to be announced if it will also be upgradeable.
