Nexus One Homepage

Google Nexus OneThe official home page of the Nexus One came out several hours ago before suddenly disappearing. The official site went live for a few brief moments allowing eager fans to catch a quick glimpse of demo videos for the phone’s Android version 2.0 user interface –a surprise since many people expected that the phone would be using the newer 2.1 Android. The page that prematurely went online also showed a quick link for checking the status of pre-ordered phones and for activating the device. So far, Google has not confirmed when the Nexus One will actually reach UK shores, but it is expected to be within a few days of the North American launch.

It has been a busy month for both Google and the many fans that have been waiting for the release of the Nexus One. The phone is confirmed to be using a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1GHz processor. Though initially listed to be using the Android 2.1 OS, the listing would lead us to believe that the initial video placed on the site was an error. For the most part, the device comes in a matte black color variant though we may see other variations once the device is released.

The phone will have a 3.7 AMOLED touch screen with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The capacitive touch screen will be equipped with multi-touch support, an accelerometer and a proximity sensor. The phone will also have a 5 mega pixel camera with autofocus and LED flash as well as geo-tagging support and smile detection. Images shot with the camera will have a max resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels.

Being an Android phone, users can expect the device to have mobile app versions of major Google services such as GTalk, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Picasa and more.
