Apple iPad Appears Onstage, Again

Stephen ColbertLess than a few days after Steve Jobs unveils the one tablet to rule them all, we get another sneak peek at Apple’s iPad at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards and lugging the device around is none other than acclaimed comic anchor, Stephen Colbert.

As the comic went onstage to announce nominees, he fumbled around looking for the traditional envelope which contained the list. Unsuccessful, he opens his coat and pulls out an Apple iPad –much to the delight and surprise of the audience. The crowd received the joke warmly and broke into a combination of laughs and applause as the tablet showed how smoothly the auto-rotate function moves.

Yes, the Apple tablet is officially a cultural icon already recognized by all.

It comes as to no surprise that that the iPad has managed to get this much popularity and appeal in the past few weeks. Steve Jobs has made it clear that this is a multifunctional device made to make the information access easier and faster. Apple has no doubts that the tablet would be a mainstay in homes all over the world in the next few years.

The device features a 9.7 inch touch screen display that uses a new form of LCD technology for enhanced colors and visuals. The 1024 x 768 pixel display is able to deliver desktop monitor sized graphics with the convenience of being able to browse from your couch.

Missing from the device is the ability to handle Flash (which is quite a shame since so many websites use flash these days) and multi tasking. The 1GHz A4 processor on the iPad is certainly able to handle the load, which makes us wonder why Apple has not yet enabled multi tasking capabilities.
