Just How Good is the iPad?

Apple-iPadOkay, it has been a week and we have almost heard it all; the iPad is amazing, it is a game changer, it will change the way we live our lives, it totally reinvents the way we access information online, so on and so forth.

Indeed, if anything else, it has already been proven that Apple is king when it comes to making devices that set and raise the standards and benchmarks of we commonly know and understand. The iPod reinvented portable music technology in the way that the Sony Walkman invented it. The iPhone totally changed our standards on what a smart phone is and how touch screen devices should look. Now, the iPad is creating a new stage for a whole new breed of electronic devices.

That is all good and great, but when Steve Jobs wants you to dish out lots of money for that 64GB 3G version of the iPad, its position as a pioneer will not earn it any cookie points.

So what can it do? The answer to this is simple, the device does plenty of web related stuff such as browsing, and it will also serve as a book reader, a quick typing pad and will also play games.

How well can it do its job? Well, the first main concern here is the lack of multi tasking. The device comes with a 1GHz A4 processor, it should be able to handle multiple tasks –we can only assume that the speed is a nice payoff but it is certainly a hindrance not being able to check a reference website when you are typing a report.

It plays games and handles processes easily. The hardware makes sure of that, and best of all, the amazing touch screen provides ample display room –it is like having a desktop monitor in your lap.

It works great and it does great. No doubt that this first iPad is still for a very niche market. The next one whoever, will certainly for a more general use.
