Xbox Live on WinMo 7: Not for Hardcore Gamers

Windows MobileIf Steve Ballmer and his company believe that integrating Xbox Live Games into the new WinMo operating system will get gamers to go for devices using the platform, they are so wrong. Initial screens of the XBL service already shows that the usual tirade of casual mobile phone games that hold very little value in the eyes of true gamers; “improve your  fitness skills today”, “play cards this weekend”, “dance gear available for your avatar” and several other uninteresting tag lines shows that the XBL service on mobile phones is clearly targeted for the casual gamer.

Still, there is one solid market of game players that would appreciate WinMo 7: existing XBL users. It is already a given that this crowd of tea-bagging over-compensating individuals would enjoy being able to connect their mobile phone with their Xbox Live accounts in order to carry their avatar around and show off their current gamer score in the delusion that it makes them better individuals. For the more well rounded mobile phone users however, the inclusion of Xbox Live games is a welcome addition.

In any case, XBL or not, the unveiling of WinMo 7 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain was a big success. Ballmer and crew present the new features, layout and control scheme of WinMo 7 and the new tiles interface which allows users to easily control and customize content displayed on the phone.

Integration of social networking site Facebook is present in the pictures menu as users will be given the ability to tag, and upload images on the phone to a Facebook account instantly. Zune will also play a big role in the user interface of WinMo 7; and hopefully, with its inclusion in the new OS, Zune will be released in the UK.
