Samsung to Make WP7 Handset

Windows Phone 7It has been confirmed that Samsung is currently developing a new Windows Phone 7 device and it will come with the super AMOLED capacitive touch screen that was seen on the Bada Wave phone.

The new announcement places Samsung just behind LG as mobile phone manufacturers are currently working on their WP7 projects. Aside from these two Korean manufacturers, it has been reported that Taiwan-based HTC will also come up with their own device by the holidays and as for Microsoft, the company is working closely with Asus to develop their own device –which is basically the demo phone they show in presentations.

Aside from the super AMOLED screen, it has also been said that the Samsung device will have an 8 mega pixel camera and a basic touch screen layout. The LG Panther on the other hand, follows the type 2 chassis requirement and comes with both a WVGA capacitive touch screen and a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

Microsoft has announced not only set chassis types for upcoming WP7 devices, but also a list of hardware components that should be present in all phones. Most of the specs are pretty much expected –the device should have a high speed processor, a capacitive touch screen, at least a 5 mega pixel camera, support for WiFi, 3G and AGPS.

Just this week the SDK for WP7 was released and we got a sneak peek at both Silverlight and the XNA Game Studio. Silverlight is responsible for delivering web based applications and XNA enables 3D for games. The Visual Studio presentation showcased how a single game app can be carried over from the smart phone to a desktop computer to the Microsoft Xbox 360.
