Sony Ericsson Corrects Wrong Announcement about X10 Mini

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 MiniSimply put, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini will not be coming out by April 13, 2010.

Again: it will NOT be coming out.

Vodafone originally announced that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Android smart phones will be coming this April 13. The news was quickly spread but added that little tidbit about the X10 Mini also being available earlier. This is not the case, and SE has pointed out that the rumors as well as the listing on the eXpansys website is erroneous.

Anyway, the XPERIA X10 Mini is actually the originally announced XPERIA Robyn. The device is already known to be the Mini version of the X10 early on. With the X10 being Sony Ericsson’s first Android smart phone, they have missed the market of mid range smart phone users since the X10 is a little too high end for the average person.

The Mini is about half the size of the original X10 but packs the same look and style as the rest of the XPERIA series. The device looks elegant and easy to use. When the phone was shown off at the Mobile World Congress, it showed off a new user interface not much unlike the Timescape on the X10.

The Mini will also be accompanied by the X10 Mini Pro when it comes out. The Pro is a special version of the X10 that comes equipped with a physical QWERTY keyboard.

Aside from the X10 Mini, Sony Ericsson also showed off a few other devices at the event. The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is the Symbian smart phone with the ability to record at 720p HD. The Vivaz Pro, like the Mini Pro is a second edition of the Vivaz that comes packed with a physical keyboard.
