If there is one line of devices from Sony that many of us all over the world loved, it is the Sony Walkman series.
At a time when the only way to carry around music meant having to lug around a heavy boom box, the Sony Walkman player became the device to have. People carried it around during morning jogs or on the tube to work. People would listen to their favorite tunes while at work or on the commute. The Sony Walkman paved the way for devices such as portable MP3 players and eventually, multimedia devices such as the iPod.
Sony, being the nice big electronic giant that it is, has been supplementing its mobile phone technology with the Walkman hardware. The company is already doing the same with Cybershot –placing high end camera technology on Sony Ericsson smart phones. The same goes for the Walkman series of mobile phones.
Sony Ericsson already has a successful line of GSM Walkman phones from before, each featuring varying specs and features –but each specializing in being able to deliver high end music playback for users.
The promise of new Sony Ericsson Walkman devices for this year is more than just exciting; it is making us giddy with anticipation. Considering that Sony Ericsson is now focusing more on creating smart phones, we would certainly love to see a new SE device that incorporates an awesome OS (perhaps the new Android, Symbian^3 or even WP series 7), Walkman features and of course, Greenheart standards.
Well, not to get ahead of ourselves, but that would certainly be phone worth looking forward to. Nathan Vautier, current manager of Sony Ericsson UK and Ireland has stated that we should expect to see Walkman devices within the next 12 months.
