Sony Ericsson’s new Timescape and Mediascape user interface debuted along with the XPERIA X10 and we have to say, it is truly impressive.
The Timescape UI is a simple page that lets you see all your recent communications with your friends and contacts. As you might have guessed, it is all in a single chronological line that lets you easily find specific contacts. You can then delve deeper into a single contact with an expanded view that consolidates all the correspondences you have had with a single person. It’s a great way to keep a consistent and track of conversations (and if you are the type who easily forgets numbers, dates or addresses –this is an easy way to keep note of that info).
The Mediascape user interface on the hand is not as useful, but at least it still looks stylish. Anyway, the new tool is for keeping track of your media such as images, music files and videos. If you fill in the extra content such as artist, track name, etc (or if the information is already in the file), the phone will link files with similar features (such as the same artist) for easy reference. It is a great tool when you’re the type to dump tons of media on your device.
The XPERIA X10 is expected to come out this March along with the SE Vivaz. The phone will be running a 1GHz Snapdragon processor so expect to see the new user interfaces and the Android OS to be running smoothly. The phone also comes with a 4 inch capacitive touch screen and an 8 mega pixel camera. If going all high end is not your thing, wait a few months more for the upcoming X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro.
