The web has been abuzz for the past few days over supposed images of the latest Apple iPhone device. To follow the basic premise of the story, someone from Apple (or had access to Apple’s tech labs) walked into a bar with the prototype device and has for some unexplained reason (we highly suspect inebriety) left the device behind.
The device was later found by tech journalists (surprise surprise!), and later the images of the phone was uploaded into the web. Of course, many people were both excited and cautious about the credibility of the report and the images.
As fishy as the whole story sounds, there are now reports that Apple has actually contacted the journalists in question (the fine folks over at Gizmodo) and has requested to have the device returned to their possession –which then verifies the authenticity of the Apple iPhone prototype.
Of course, there are now hints that Gizmodo may have actually purchased the device in question. Which leads to further presumptions -as to how Gizmodo came to be at the right bar at the right time or why the finder of the device decided to offer it to Gizmodo (if the meeting was not a chance occurrence). There are of course, those who feel that the purchase of what is suspected to be stolen goods a bad idea. Others believe that the tech blog remained true to its roots, going by any means necessary to deliver the news.
Surprisingly, there is also a strong voice among those who suspect a conspiracy between Apple and Gizmodo, claiming that it is all planned. The explanation, oddly enough, fits. Despite the immense resources and know-how that the tech blog has, they have not thoroughly examined the prototype for specifications (processor and such) even though they could have easily done it.
