Initials sales performances of products are not really good gauges of how good a device is, but it certainly does paint a pretty clear picture of how well the manufacturer will be faring in the next few months. And now, after almost a full week since the launch of the iPad, Apple is releasing a full statement on how well the sales went.
According to Steve Jobs, about 450,000 iPads have been sold since the device launched on April 3rd. While the amount is significantly smaller than the previously estimated 700,000 sales figure, the iPad is still a veritable success. In fact, Apple could very well reach the 1 million mark before the end of the first full quarter of sales –though earlier predictions stating that a 1 million sales point by the end of the week are no longer accurate.
In any case, there are now at least 450,000 people in the United States (and a few hundred across the world) who are enjoying the amazing touch screen marvel that Apple has been busy working on for so many years. It has been reported before that Steve Jobs once rejected plenty of tablet devices for production as most did not possess the necessary features that people would want to have.
The iPad passed the big man’s expectations as it serves as a multipurpose media accessibility device –perfect for video, music, the internet, books, interactive media (games) and more. The size combines a large touch screen and a thin ergonomic form factor. The battery has been confirmed to be capable of lasting for the entirety of 10 straight hours –just as Apple promised.
Many believe that Apple would be able to achieve a similar success when the iPad launches this April 24.
