Who Stole the New iPhone?

Apple iPhone 4G (1)Now here is a piece of mobile phone theft news that is certainly worth looking at: Apple’s prototype iPhone has been taken away from their facilities and has found its way to the curious folks at Gizmodo.

In just a day after the first scoops of the phone’s images and specs come out, Apple is quick to send a letter to Gizmodo requesting that the device be sent back to their possession. Interesting and amusing to read, but at the same time, something really does not fit here.

First off, we all know how ruthless Apple can be. Considering an event like this, it is unsurprising that they have not publicly executed the offending employee (as the hunch towards an inside job is pretty strong and the only acceptable explanation available) as well as sued the living daylights out of the people at Gizmodo.

While the tech blog was not under any contract that would prohibit them from posting the information they gained on the site, they did acquire an item that was not supposed to be there (purchasing stolen good perhaps) and Apple has an army of soul eating lawyers who will be all too happy to file a case at the snap of a finger.

Instead, Apple is playing the role of the good guy, pretty surprising. Which means that they were the ones who were not surprised about the leak in the first place, and in turn, that could be sign that they allowed it to happen at all.

Of course, all of these are merely speculation, considering that the parties involved have already given public statements, then that would be the truth they want us to believe.
