Windows Phone 7 Series Renamed

Windows Phone 7It is not an April fool’s joke, but it certainly had us smiling wide when the news finally came out, Microsoft is letting go of the “series” tag for the Windows Phone 7 mobile platform.

Seriously, that was a mouthful title for an operating system and since the usual nickname for the OS did not make use of the “series” label, it made more sense that MS does without it. Aside from that little change, there is really nothing new to report about the upcoming Windows Phone 7 OS.

Is Microsoft Mobile’s team too busy fiddling around with their brand new Apple iPads?

WP7 is still currently under production and considering the amount of new updates for the OS that was being chunked out each week we were actually waiting for this break to happen. So far, since the system was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress last February, every week brought something new and major to the OS. It makes one actually wonder how the MS team would be able to fit all of that in by the time the first WP7 device finally rolls out of the production line.

So far, here is what we know. The new operating system will have an amazing user interface that is not only stylish and visually appealing, but it is also very dynamic, customizable and easy to use. Microsoft has declared optimal hardware requirements ensuring that the performance of the OS in all devices will be smooth and fluid.

In terms of actual phones, it is confirmed that the LG Panther will be a WP7 device as well as the yet to be named HTC and Samsung smart phones. The Panther will feature a touch screen display and will be the first WP7 device to have a slide out QWERTY keyboard.
