According to recent reports, there have been over a million Apple iPads that have been sold in the United States alone. The number was reached well within the first month of sales (Apple reports that it took 28 days). This surpasses the sales of the Apple iPhone when it first launched.
Still, despite the iPad is doing better in terms of sales, many also believe that the reason for this success is due to the fact that Apple has already been able to re-establish itself in the portable electronics industry. Thanks to the success of the iPod and the iPhone, there is already a large community of Apple fans waiting to get the next Apple device.
The real test of the iPad’s functionality is its longevity. And potentially, it would be Apple that will be toppling its own records with the rumors that as early as right now, the Cupertino based company is already working on the tablet’s upcoming sequel.
Still, many current users of the device are quite confident that the iPad will be around for a long time. The initial hurdle that many owners simply have to get over with is recognizing the fact that unlike netbooks and computers, the iPad is not a computing device. With that standard set aside, it is fairly easy to establish a degree of appreciation for the touch screen tablet can do and is capable of.
First off, the device is an instant web browser, just pick it up and click the icon. This will instantly send you online without having to wait for a long boot up process. The touch screen based user interface will make browsing much easier than using a mouse (though the virtual keyboard is nowhere as good as the real thing). Aside from web browsing, the device can also read eBooks, play games, run apps and more.
