New Features Revealed for the 4.0 OS of the iPhone

Apple iPhone 4GIt seems that there is actually a little more to the new iPhone Os that Steve Jobs let us on when he presented the system a few weeks back. That and the fact that Apple caused so many other disturbances in the recent weeks that it was hard to notice anything else that was going on.

So anyway, it appears that when the fine folks at Cupertino are not busy coming out with new lawsuits to file or restrictions to implement, they are actually working on new features and how to integrate them into the iPhone platform. The first new addition that we have seen is the inclusion of a new kill-app function. It is a common feature for other phones, but since the new OS is the first time that the Apple product will get to have multitasking, then it is natural that app-killing will be making a debut as well. As harsh as the feature sounds, it simply means being able to shut off a running program when viewing the multitasking window.

Another new feature is a pop out media control panel. It acts like a self hiding widget that handles the controls of media playback –perfect for fast forwarding the track without having to switch to the player directly. The function has been long overdue and iPhone users are hoping that the new feature will be customizable for controlling other functions as well.

Last on the list of the new iPhone 4.0 features is the addition of the rotation lock. Yep, you no longer have to tilt the device carefully if you do not want the orientation to change (and sometimes, even that does not work at all). The new setting will let you view the screen in the orientation you want without having to break your neck at weird angles.
