Fans of the Android operating system have been waiting for a while for the actual UK launch of the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S smart phone. The device was announced almost more than a month ago and featured very impressive specs that matched those of the recently launched high end Androids Desires, Nexus One and XPERIA X10. Added to that is the new Samsung made super AMOLED screen technology.
What makes the new screen display so impressive is the fact that no other smart phone screen can match the visual quality that the Galaxy S can deliver. When the super AMOLED display was first shown off last February at the Mobile World Congress being used on the Wave smart phone, everybody agreed that the 3.3 inch touch screen display had the most vivid and richest colors possible on a mobile phone. Samsung is now going to surpass that previous feat with a much large 4 inch screen on the Galaxy S.
Aside from an already impressive display, this handset also features a high speed 1GHz processor, a 5 mega pixel camera, 16GB of internal memory and of course support for SD cards. Usual smart phone features such as GPS, Bluetooth support and other are naturally included.
In terms of software, Samsung is bringing more than just the Android 2.1 Éclair OS. The phone will be using a new version of the TouchWiz user interface as well as other Samsung-specific features such as the social hub, ThinkFree, SmartLife and others.
Vodafone did jump the gun a little too early and had mistakenly labeled the phone as equipped with a Google Chrome browser. That little snippet has since been removed from the official website so as not to mislead users. Besides, the default Android browser is already a reliable and stable program to use.
