Today is officially Samsung day, well, mostly anyway. It appears that the Korean phone manufacturer has plenty of new toys for the smart phone community to play around with and it all starts with sequels to already successful devices ranging from low end to high end smart phones.
First up, the ever familiar Samsung Wave; this smart phone comes with the open source Bada operating system, a 1GHz CPU, a 3.3 inch super AMOLED touch screen and a handset package that is so early 2010. Samsung has announced that they will be updating the device with the announcement of the Samsung Wave 2. So far, no specific details on what the specs will be, but it seems that the Bada is getting the dual version upgrade. Samsung confirmed that there will be a Wave 2 and a Wave 2 Pro which adds in a spiffy slide out QWERTY keyboard.
They also announced a new Omnia handset –and this time, instead of the Windows Mobile OS, the phone might be supporting the Windows Phone 7 mobile platform. Well, Samsung has yet to make an official confirmation on the OS, but as they have already let known before that they are working on a WP7 device, this seems to be a fitting handset. Again, expect to see the super AMOLED touch screen on this device.
Last on the list of upcoming Samsung devices are the new i5500 Corby which brings the Android 2.1 to this “made for younger users handset” and the i8520 Beam which is the an almost high end Android handset that brings together a fast 800MHz CPU, a 3.7 inch super AMOLED touch screen and an 8 mega pixel camera with 720p video recording.
With CommunicAsia starting this week, we can probably expect to see more surprises from Samsung.
