According to recent rumors, Sony Ericsson is planning to release a new Greenheart mobile phone to add to their already impressive lineup of eco friendly handset.
For those not familiar with the Greenheart technology, this series of mobile phone products shows the world that being green does not mean having to cut down on a phone’s features. The Greenheart handset from Sony Ericsson are full featured and reliable mobile phones, the fact that they have been produced with recycled plastics and have not used any toxic chemicals in production does not mar the quality in any way.
Of course, not all of Sony’s products carry the Greenheart seal, since they are not focusing on making all accessories and phone add-ons to be Greenheart compliant, once they have achieved that, we can probably expect a Greenheart XPERIA device as well.
Sony’s earth friendly products are more than just the actual phones themselves. There is plenty of focus on the way that the packaging is made and how large it is. They have minimized the volume of paper that is used in the boxes and have eliminated manuals in lieu of phone-encoded electronic manuals. Also, the smaller design of the Greenheart packaging allows for more to be shipped at the same time, saving plenty of energy in terms of transportation and fuel costs.
Anyway, details about the new handset are still unconfirmed. So far, the only thing that is known is that the mobile phone will be named “Hong” and that it will be a candy bar handset that is not unlike the previously announced SE Elm handset.
Speaking of released Greenheart phones, the last device in the series is the Aspen, which is a full featured WinMo 6.5.3 smart phone. According to many users, the Aspen performs great and the fact that it is uses recycled and eco friendly materials does not affect the handset at all.
