If Apple is not able to keep up with the global demand for the iPhone 4, the device might go out of stock in the next few days.
According to various retailers and news sources, the supplies of the iPhone 4 have been running out since the day the device launched. With over 1.7 million getting sold within the first three days of sales, it is unlikely that Apple would be able to keep up. As it is, Apple seems to have already rushed the production of the iPhone.
Many early buyers of the iPhone discovered that their handsets were afflicted with some bizarre yellow substance within the screen. While it apparently did not interfere with the performance or usage of the device, the large yellow blob was a big annoyance for many users. According to Apple, the issue was caused by a substance that used in manufacturing.
The iPhone’s multi-layered touch screen displays used this in between the layers and apparently, the yellow discoloration was a result of the liquid not drying properly. While the issue seems to resolve itself after a handset is used long enough, it shows that Apple did not have time to properly let the screens “sit” before they were shipped off the retailers.
While some might assume that the recently uncovered antenna issue might also be a rushed production error, product design rules state otherwise. Though Apple has obviously decided to skimp out on the prototype testing stages –despite one prototype being ‘stolen’ from the Apple offices, it is not an excuse for the company to allow such a badly made design to make it to the production lines.
For those unfamiliar with the antenna issue, it appears that the iPhone’s reception can be easily blocked if a user places a finger on a certain part on the side of the handset –a spot where one would usually rest a finger on when taking or making a call. This is a major issue, and is particularly confusing since no similar problems were present in the original iPhone or the iPhone 3G S models.
