It may seem confusing, but thanks to the fact that Nokia has confirmed that the N8 is the last Symbian handset to be part of the N-series, the recently leaked Nokia N9 seems to have to place to go.
What is most interesting is that no source seems to be able to determine why the handset has been designated as the N9 publicly in the first place. When looking up close at the device, the handset is actually labeled as the C0-00 at the back panel, while in the front, it is stated that this is the Nokia C0.
Of course, it makes more sense that such an impressive looking smart phone would be part of the N-series as opposed to the simple 2G handsets like the Nokia C1 and C2. Some even thought that it would have made more sense that the phone be part of the E-series.
Nokia has already made the official announcement that the N-series would be adopting the MeeGo operating system instead of the Symbian. This means that the upcoming Nokia N8 is the last handset in the series to be using the Symbian OS –which leaves the N9 lacking a series to belong to.
Regardless of what name the Nokia N9/C0-00 will get, the device will certainly be something to look forward to. There are rumors that the phone will sport Samsungs super AMOLED touch screen technology and we have confirmed that the device will support TV output for both HDMI and component cables.
The 8 mega pixel camera is packed with full features such as auto focus, dual LED flash, geo tagging, as well as face and smile detection systems. Video fans will appreciate that additional 720p HD video recording capability (at 30 frames per second). Audio playback on the device will support Dolby Digital Plus technology.
