New HTC Sense User Interface Promises Practical Features

Custom user interface layouts have existed for smart phones for a very long time. While there is no specific rule about what kinds of UI’s are accepted, most are designed to provide users with either a unifying look across different platforms in various phone models or to make the user experience even more enjoyable.

In many cases, the use if a custom UI is both loved and hated. Taking a cue from the Android community, there are plenty who feel that HTC makes some of the best Android handsets available, but there are also purists who believe that the use of the Sense user interface takes away from the original Android feel. With Windows Mobile on the HTC HD2, it was quite different: people loved the custom UI as it allowed the use of the OS on a capacitive touch screen display.

Anyway, a HTC’s event, it was revealed that a new Sense UI has been developed and this time, it is a full update to the existing version.

According to reports, the new UI brings plenty of changes to the way content and information is displayed on the device. The email functions are now easier to read (as they are better labeled, tagged and organized) and the maps feature provides better navigation services as well.

Of course, the biggest improvement to the user interface is the use of cloud technology. Users may now create an account with the newly launched HTC Sense website content such as messages, logs and other in-phone data can be backed up. This also provides HTC with the ability to remotely access a mobile phone –which is pretty useful for users who either misplace or completely lose a handset.

Backing up from the online storage is also easy, with the service being offered completely free of charge, it easily beats Apple’s similar feature –which uses a paid subscription.
