RIM has long managed to stay in a very strong position in the business market; after all, their smart phones and business solutions have long proven to be efficient and effective in handling many of the tasks and needs of both large and medium companies.
However, as technology improved, more and more mobile phone manufacturers are able to offer business solutions as well. In fact, devices that are originally meant for general public use are being outfitted with business features –ranging from simple document editing apps to security features that would enable secure, private connections to local network infrastructure.
Of course, with the Android and iOS creeping upon the business market, there are plenty of things for RIM to worry about. In fact, various sources indicate that many businesses are now looking at other systems aside from RIM –with employees now choosing to have the more contemporary devices such as the iPhone or the Nexus One, there is plenty of need for a hipper, trendier business phone. Hopefully for RIM, the upcoming BlackBerry Torch 9800 is media centric enough to fill in the need.
In other news, the Nokia World event is about to start tomorrow and it is believed that we are going to see plenty of new things from the Finnish mobile phone maker. While general interest in their devices and the Symbian OS has dropped down in the past few months, it is believed that the arrival of the new N-series handsets and a new Symbian OS would change that issue.
Many are already expecting to get a first hand look at the Nokia N8 and N9 smart phones. The N8 uses the Symbian^3 operating system while the Nokia N9 uses the MeeGo OS. The MeeGo is a new operating system that has been developed by Nokia and Intel together (like a cross between the Maemo and the Moblin). There are also rumors that the Symbian^4 might be making an appearance at the event as well.
