Speaking of phone technology news, the Powermat wireless charging technology is reportedly going to be available in some new phones. The manufacturers will be making use of this technology is still not yet known, and so far, it appears that the general stand on the feature is lukewarm.
While it literally is wireless charging, the technology still requires direct contact between the mat and the device, this means that while the phone is charging, and using it normally is not possible. One would have to pick it up –and thereby stop charging temporarily. This means that if you are on a low charge and you need to make a call, having access to a Powermat charger will not be of any help to you.
