Acer Launches First Snapdragon Mobile

Acer LiquidAcer has just announced its very first smartphone, set to run under the Android operating system. It is another first for the company, as they will be using a Snapdragon processor in the Android powered device. This is not only a first for Acer, but in fact the first time that anyone, anywhere, has put such a high powered CPU into an Android mobile phone.

Previously referred to as the A1, the handset has now been given a new name, (Acer regularly renames its models in this fashion,) to become the Acer Liquid A1. The mobile phone will be running under the newest version of the Android operating system, version 1.6, (nicknamed Donut), and not Android OS 2.0 as previously expected.

One of the real high points of the design is that it includes Spinlets, an app that lets the users stream music and video, as well as sharing that multimedia content with their friends and family using either email or web posting. Another nice little plus is that all of our favourite social networking websites are completely integrated with the user interface.

Aside from that, the Acer Liquid A1 mobile phone also has a WVGA touch screen display, a HSDPA data transfer option and a very respectable 5 mega pixel camera which boasts geo tagging and of course, auto focus.

Currently there are no details available on either price or a firm release date, however all signs point to an upcoming UK launch in the near future.

This could very well be Acer’s flagship phone for the new Liquid line, so we are hoping to see it live up to the high expectations the company clearly has of it.
