Apple has just released a software update for the iPhone operating system, pushing it up to iPhone OS 3.1.2. The updated operating system is intended to fix a number of bugs and issues that were present in the previous version.
The release comes after several complaints from iPhone users about the last update, which caused numerous problems with their mobile phones, including a greatly reduced battery life, various problems with connections as well as issues when trying to wake the handset up from sleep mode.
Apple said in their short and sweet release notes on the iPhone 3.1.2 operating system that it will fix a “sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep,” an “intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart” and “fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming.” – An update that every iPhone user will undoubtedly feel is long over due.
The update is now available on the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3GS and the original iPhone handset.
Those of you who don’t know to perform the update, it is very simple; use your mobile phone to connect to iTunes, then click on the “Check for Updates” button, and you will be able to perform the update to your iPhone’s operating system from there. (Do not use your phone while it is updating, and make sure it has enough battery power that it wont turn off during the process.)
Those of you who have unlocked your iPhone will need to be careful, and should seek advice on your preferred hacking forum to ensure it is safe for your handset to receive the update.
