HTC, makers of the Hero and Magic have listened to years of customer complaints have now announced they will include 3.5mm headphone sockets on all future devices.
“The vast majority of devices we launch after Hero will have a 3.5mm jack. Devices that we have already announced but that still come out after Hero will not necessarily be a part of this change,” said HTC this week.
HTC have received much criticism over the years for their insistence on using proprietary or USB headphones which has angered many music fans. With many people now using their phones as music devices it has come to be expected that they should include standard headphone sockets so that users can insert their own headphones of choice. Many people had found it irritating that HTC had gone to great effort to include multimedia capabilities in their phones but ignored this particular area limiting customers to certain sets of headphones of questionable quality or else fork oout money for awkward adapters.
