More on the LG GD510 Pop

LG GD510 PopIf you have been scrounging up more information on the LG GD510 Pop, then you are in luck. While there has been no official word on some of the specifications, we have been able to nail down some interesting facts about this new full touch screen phone. Of course, full touch screen phones are not common in the mobile phone industry, at best, it is a novel concept that LG tends to make use of. The first full touch screen phone released by LG was the PRADA. Since then, people have been curious as to what LG has been planning to do with its full touch screen models.

Going Touch

Touch screen phones have a versatility that cannot be found with conventional keypad-oriented mobile phones. The touch screen expands the navigation and browsing experience. Touch screen technology has made many great user interfaces possible, the Android is one such example. Another major application of touch screen technology is with applications, particularly mobile web browsers. Since mobile phones lack a mouse, and having an onscreen pointer takes up too much space, having a touch screen helps solve this dilemma easily.

Lacking Keys

What LG has to compensate for with the full touch screen phone is the fact that the device does not have analog buttons. These buttons tend to serve as shortcuts and additional commands. Without these shortcuts, commands and controls are limited to finger gestures, tapping and sliding on the screen. This can be very limiting for people who are used to other touch screen devices.

Popping the Pop

The bottom line is that the GD510 Pop will just be a novelty mobile phone. It is up to LG to find the right combination of features and functions to keep this phone up to par with other devices so that it retains a decent lifespan of usability.
