New LG flagship mobile: LG Arena MK900

With the Mobile World Congress here in a week’s time (16th to the 19th of February in Barcelona), we see yet another cheeky peep at a new mobile phone available at some point in 2009. On Sunday it was LG’s turn to give us an eye full, with the LG Arena MK900.

This is a flagship mobile phone for LG that includes a brand new interface which is based around a 3D cube. The cube interface described by Skott Ahn (CEO and president of LG Electronics: “The direct, intuitive, and dynamic S-Class UI will be unlike anything that has appeared on a mobile phone before”.

The 3D S-Class user interface will allow multiple applications to be opened by the user at the same time. We will be able to switch between these applications by rotating to a different side of the cube. We will hopefully have video reviews of the LG Arena from the Mobile World Congress to show you the usability of the graphical user interface.

As I’m sure you can see, the LG Arena MK900 does have some similar characteristics (functionality and design) to LG’s previous multimedia phone release: the LG Renoir. The Arena will include a 3inch touch screen (WVG), allowing an impressive 800 x 480 pixel resolution (comparable with the Sony Ericsson X1 and HTC Touch HD). In addition to Mobile TV, 5 mega pixel camera, DivX and Dolby support, HSDPA, GPS and Wi-Fi functionality.

We will be bringing you more details on the LG Arena MK900 (including featured reviews and videos) when we have it.
