Phone company Nokia recently introduced the Nokia 5030 XpressRadio and when you first look at the phone, you just know it is meant to make a statement – whether with the music that it plays or the eye-catching design that the mobile phone comes in. The XpressRadio element of the mobile phone showcases an internal FM radio antenna, a built-in loudspeaker and dedicated music keys. The antenna and loudspeaker allow you to play music out loud so that your friends can listen in with you. The one-touch radio keys make it easy for you to flip through your favorite channels whilst on the move. You can listen to the radio for up to 24 hours without recharging – certainly welcome news for music lovers.
The Nokia 5030 is being pitted against the Sony Ericsson R300 but I would say that the XpressRadio is more attractive, especially the red variant. The back cover design is particularly eye-catching and it sports a 1.8 inch screen so you can easily access your unit’s features. It is even equipped with a torch which you can use to see in the dark.Getting in touch with family and friends is also covered and whilst it is primarily marketed as a music phone, its call and messaging features are quite extensive. Hands-free calling is enabled with the integrated speakerphone as well as call waiting, call hold and conference call.
It has a call timer and a log that records dialed numbers, received and missed calls. This model can store up to 250 text messages and you can also access messaging distribution lists. It also supports concatenated SMS so the length of your messages doesn’t have to be limited to the standard 160 characters.
Nokia launched the 5030 along with the Nokia XpressMusic phones namely the 5730 and 5330, but the Nokia XpressRadio is the most affordable of the three and is expected to retail somewhere around 40 euros.
