Nokia Surge in Europe

Nokia-6760-Slide_42329_1The soon to be released Nokia 6760 Slide has already been released in the US as the Nokia Surge and has had a mixed response. Although some people have been sceptical of its unconventional design, others have highly enjoyed its list of features that are geared primarily towards messaging and social networking. Nokia had decided to release the Surge in America first after it had been receiving criticism for focusing too much of its attention on Europe. The 6760 Slide uses a side sliding design which when operated reveals a full QWERTY keyboard underneath that is ideal for typing emails or writing messages.

The 6760 Slide comes with support for Exchange and a whole range of email services, as well as supporting Google Talk and MS Messenger. There are special apps for quick and easy access to services such as Twitter and Facebook and the keyboard is ideal for all these purposes. The Surge release in the US featured a 2 megapixel camera but this has been upgraded to 3.2 megapixels for the 6760 Slide. However there is no autofocus or flash for the camera, nor any other features, that make this camera not very effective by today’s standards.

The 6760 Slide features good multimedia support as well as an FM radio, although Nokia have decided to use 2.5mm audio jack rather than a more conventional 3.5mm one much may annoy some music fans.

The 6760 Slide is a decent phone for social networking and for many people that find this important the 6760 Slide would be a good choice despite being put off by its somewhat unconventional design. The 6760 Slide is to be released soon in black, with white and red versions to be released at a later date.
