It looks like Samsung are jumping on the eco friendly band wagon, well I support you have to be in it to win it. With such a topic that is unlikely to go away in a hurry and is pretty much in the news every week, there has got to be money to be made.
Samsung have unveiled its eco-friend alternative, the Samsung Blue Earth. To be honest this phone, does not look to bad; knowing it is made out of recycled plastic bottles and is not made out of any harmful substance to the environment (Beryllium, Phthalate and Brominated Flame Retardants to name a few).
We do not have a great deal of details about this phone, however with the Mobile World Congress just around the corner, I’m pretty sure there will be a big eco friendly line up from all the mobile phone manufactures. We already know that LG are looking to hit the “eco-friendly” vibe pretty hard, as it has an eco alternative mobile phone waiting in the wings.
Apart from the above eco credentials, what we do know about this phone is that it has a solar panel on the back of the mobile phone that will help charge the phone, it will be equipped with an eco friendly charger, it has a unique green interface that will display how many trees you have saved by walking and not driving and also an “eco-mode” that will allow the adjustment of the screen brightness and backlight.
All in all, this actually looks like quite a good eco phone (unlike the Motorola W233). It will be available in the second half of 2009. More details on the Samsung Dark Earth, including Dark Earth contracts, Dark Earth pay as you go costing estimates and full Mobile Deals Compared Dark Earth featured reviews and videos details will be available in the up and coming months.
