The Samsung S5600 Preston: Cool Looks, Solid Features

samsung-s5600The Samsung S5600 is a stylish, compact touchscreen phone that is the most recent addition to the Samsung line-up. It sports a 2.8 inch display and measures 102.8 x 54.8 x 12.9 millimeters. It tips the scales at a light 92 grams so it won’t be a chore carrying it around in your pocket. The s5600 is currently available only in black but there is no shortage of style on this phone – it is after all, a Samsung device. Underneath the screen you will find touch-sensitive buttons and a navigation pad in the middle.

Samsung-S5230-and-Samsung-S5600Apart from the quiet sophistication that this mobile phone projects, it also boasts of impressive features that are quite difficult to find on similar mid-range phones. The S5600 has fully backed connectivity with 3G-HSDPA, EDGE, GPRS and Bluetooth. Internet connection is more than satisfactory on this phone plus it supports HTML, XHTML and WAP. Other superior features include an integrated GPS and A-GPS support as well as what Samsung refers to as Gesture Lock. The Gesture Lock features enables simultaneous unlocking and menu access by way of a pre-assigned letter that you draw on the screen.

The S5600 comes with a 3MP camera equipped with autofocus, smile shutter and image stabilisers – all designed to enable capture of good quality images. The phone’s music player is compatible with MP3, AAC and WMA formats. This is a particularly clever feature as the music player has many of the features that you can find on a portable MP3 player. You can create and customise playlists, manage your music, tweak sound options and so on. There is also an FM radio on the S5600.

The Samsung S5600 runs on the TouchWiz interface (also seen on other Samsung models, the Tocco Ultra and BeatDJ), which accounts for the use of widgets. You can personalise your homescreen by placing these mini applications on the display. The s5600 is scheduled for release this May.
