There are many reasons why the Samsung S5600 and the LG Cookie are being compared. Design looks, for one thing, are quite similar on both phones. They both sport a touchscreen interface and are geared towards the mid-range market. However, the LG Cookie seems to fall short on a few important features that the Samsung S5600 adequately addresses.

Unlike the LG Cookie, the
Samsung S5600 Preston is 3G enabled so on connectivity alone, the S5600 already leads by a mile. Additionally, the camera of the S5600 can capture videos at 15 frames per second while the
LG Cookie records at 12 frames per second. The camera on the LG Cookie has no autofocus and flash so it is safe to say the quality of images captured won’t measure up to S5600 standards.
To enhance its image capture capabilities,
Samsung incorporated smile shot and image stabilisers on the S5600’s snapper. The smile shot is convenient as the phone doesn’t take a shot until after a smile is detected. Image stabilisers ensure you get a clear image even as your hand shakes.
The TouchWiz UI on the S5600 is also notable. It is the same user interface utilized on the S8300 but with the addition of widgets. Users can now make use of widgets to customise the homescreen. Other interesting features include a music player and finger-optimised galleries.
The music player of the S5600 enables music track filtering by author, genre and album. You can customise your playlists or listen to the ones automatically created by the phone. There is also an FM radio to provide an alternative listening venue. The music player has its own widget so it is easy to access it from the home menu. The music player has enough features that it can actually replace your MP3 player.
The Samsung S5600 is available in the market in May although there still isn’t any reliable information on pricing.
