The Small yet Formidable Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector

Samsung-MBP200Gone are the days when you had to stuff a large, clunky projector in your bag to give presentations. Enter the Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector. It is true that microprojectors have been around for quite some time now, but it is looking like Samsung’s portable device will be one of the major players in this market.

The Samsung MBP200 transforms your mobile phone or laptop into a projector so you can easily take your content anywhere with you. The MBP200 carries the DLP Pico chip manufactured by Texas Instruments which is responsible for the device’s ability to project images on a small piece of paper or a 50-inch wide surface. Samsung has also incorporated the imaging technology utilized in DLP HDTVs into the MBP200 to provide superior quality images.

Now the abovementioned features are already quite sufficient to earn the MBP200 a top place in the market but of course, Samsung takes the device a notch further because it is also a portable media player (PMP). It doubles as a music and video player and supports a variety of multimedia codecs such as MP3, WMA, OOG, WAV, DivX, Xvid, MPEG2 and MPEG4 just to mention a few. All of these under a device that weighs just a little over five ounces.

The upcoming Cinemin microprojectors may be set to compete with the Samsung MBP200 as they are said to also contain multimedia features. The MBP200 was launched in conjunction with the Samsung i7410 pico projector phone early this year. The MBP200 is set to be available this May at a price tag of £445.
