Way back when the original PSP was launched, rumours began to circulate surrounding Sony Ericsson working on a mobile phone version of the popular gaming console – and while they are still circulating now, we’ve seen nothing from the company yet. However there is some good news for those wanting to see Sony Ericsson step into the gaming universe, thanks to the company’s new Bluetooth controller; the Zeemote V3. The device is a wireless peripheral which syncs up with your mobile device using Bluetooth and is used as a controller for your mobile games.
Frankly, both the name of the device and it’s looks are very much like those of a controller for the Nintendo Wii; but we’re still very interested. The Zeemote V3 is able to sync up with almost every Sony Ericsson handset in out there at the moment, including the latest 3 releases; the Satio, the Yari and the Aino. The controller will also work with other company’s mobile phones, however a strong emphasis has been put on compatability with other Sony Ericsson devices. In fact, the Zeemote V3 will work with the Aino’s PS3 (Playstation 3) Remote Play feature; which we think is pretty cool.
Along with acting as a peripheral for gaming on your mobile phone, the Zeemote V3 can also be used like a remote control with different video and music playback functions, or even as a remote control for your camera – very convenient.
We currently have no firm release date or pricing to go along with this announcement, however it’s widely speculated that the Zeemote V3 wont differ in price much from its predecessor, the Zeemote JS1, which currently sells for £29.50 on Amazon.co.uk.
