New HTC Phones at the MWC

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

HTC Legend (4)HTC is one very productive mobile phone manufacturing company. They have been at it since early this year and they have not stopped since.

January begun with the release of the Nexus One, and HTC made phone that is branded by Google. With March drawing near, HTC has confirmed that two devices that were leaked last year in their roadmap were also going to come out; the HTC Bravo (which is pretty much the basis for the Nexus One) and the HTC Legend, both of these two devices are Android smart phones. The Bravo comes with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor while the Hero successor Legend comes with a Qualcomm 600 MHz processor.

Both of the two devices showed up at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain last Sunday as plenty of mobile phone manufacturers, network operators and developers came together to showcase their latest and upcoming wares for the year.

The HTC Bravo was one of the main attractions for HTC as the device promised to bring many of the features that people wanted in the Nexus One (the Nexus one is pretty inaccessible due to the fact that Google has limited its availability to their online store). One big change came for the Bravo though; the device has been renamed as HTC Desire. HTC has yet to comment why the previously masculine sounding name has been given a more effeminate one.

HTC also revealed the HD Mini. Following the success of the HTC HD2, the HD Mini will bring smart phone users access to the new Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Maldives operating system which transforms the previously difficulty to use WinMo OS into a more touch screen friendly system. The HD Mini is expected to be released sometime this April.

HTC Bravo Confirmed with Android 2.1

Friday, January 29th, 2010

HTC BravoLooks like the Bravo will be having more than just HD video recording as a one up over the Google phone; screens of the device reveal the user interface of the upcoming Android 2.1.

The HTC Bravo and the Google Nexus One will most certainly be compared. Not only do the two devices share many similar hardware specifications, it was also HTC that manufactured the acclaimed Google phone. Anyway, the specs on the Bravo are pretty impressive; with a few extra features that places it just a little above the Nexus. The one single factor that will certainly make the Bravo a better phone over the N-One is more on availability rather than actual specs. The Nexus is only available through Google’s Online store.

Anyway, the Mobile World Congress is coming up this February 15 in Barcelona, Spain and many mobile phone enthusiasts are expecting to see the Bravo to get its formal announcement. The device is expected to be released by March or April of this year, placing it in a prime position to compete with the other Snapdragon Android phone, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10.

For those of you who have not had to take a look at the HTC Bravo, the phone’s specs (as stated above) are pretty close to the Nexus One. The Bravo comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1GHz processor for delivering fast loading speeds for applications and excellent graphic handling capabilities.

The capacitive AMOLED touch screen is 3.7 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and can handle up to 16 million colors. The phone also comes with a 5 mega pixel camera with auto focus, LED flash, and video recording in 720p HD.

Bravo to Arrive Earlier than Expected

Monday, January 18th, 2010

HTC Bravo3 Sweden has released reports that the HTC Bravo will be released on March 2010 (sadly, no prices are confirmed as of yet). This is a major update from the initial announcement that the uber Android smart phone will be released on April. The one month difference may not seem like much to some, but in the mobile industry it can mean a big difference. Take the case of the XPERIA X2, it was delayed for a month and now, Vodafone has taken the device off the shelf, never to offer it again –apparently.

Anyway, there may seem to be more to this news than just a quickly completed phone. Many of you may have already read the reports that Apple is planning to have an announcement scheduled for April-May. While the company has a habit of making iPhone-related announcements during June/July, it seems like the competition between Google and Apple has forced the two companies to show their hands much earlier.

The HTC Bravo first showed itself to the public when a document regarding the HTC 2010 lineup got leaked last year. The leak showed the main specifications of the Bravo, showing off its Snapdragon Processor, AMOLED capacitive touch screen and of course, the 5 mega pixel 720 p video recording camera. Included in the list are four more Android phones, the Legend, Buzz, Salsa and Tide -as well as three WinMo phones: Photon, Trophy and Tera.

The Nexus One shares many of the specs of the Bravo, such as the CPU and the touch screen, though it lacks the HD recording capability. Right now, the N-one is not doing so well in its first few weeks, and unless Google makes the device easier to avail of and starts fixing the problems in the phone people might start turning to the Bravo instead.

HTC Legend is Stuck Behind the Hero-Brand

Friday, December 18th, 2009

HTC LegendFor some reason, people keep calling the HTC Legend as a Hero successor. While the Hero is currently HTC’s top Android phone, its real successor is the HTC Espresso (which has suddenly disappeared in the past few days). The Espresso is reported to have a 528 MHz CPU, Android 2.1, a 320 x 480 screen and a physical keyboard –a Hero with a physical keyboard.

Anyway, if successor means you have to have specs that are one up over the original, then the Legend is as good as a successor as the Hero can get.

The HTC Legend’s details first popped out when the HTC 2010 phone line up got leaked. The Legend, along with the Androids Bravo, Salsa, Tide, Buzz and three WinMo phones were part of the released document detailing the devices HTC has in store for the next year.

The big fish of the group is obviously the HTC Bravo. The phone had a huge 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED capacitive touch screen, a 5 mega pixel snapper with 720p HD video recording and a whooping Qualcomm Snapdragon 8250 CPU running at 1GHz.

The Legend came right behind the Bravo in terms of specs (and literally too). The Legend is a capacitive touch screen phone with a 3.2 inch AMOLED display. The camera is a built-in 5 mega pixel snapper with auto focus and flash. The CPU is a Qualcomm MSM 7227 running at a 600 MHz speed. The whole phone is only 11.4 mm thick making it pretty slim for its hardware level.

For memory, the phone has 512MB of flash and 256MB of RAM (obviously, the phone will rely on microSD card for extra storage). The phone also comes with a nice, high-capacity 1300 mAh battery. The device will support GSM and HSPA, as well as Bluetooth, WiFi, A-GPS and micro USB.

HTC Bravo to Arrive by Second Quarter of 2010

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

HTC BravoHTC just got its 2010 line up leaked and everyone is excited. After all, when you find 5 amazing Android mobile devices waiting to be released, the only natural reaction is the wait in anticipation.

About two days ago, the mobile community got to take a sneak peek at what is the upcoming lineup of HTC for 2010 thanks to someone who gave out images of the brochure that HTC would present to T-Mobile on NATCO day. According to reports, NATCO days are when a manufacturer presents mobile devices to a carrier. Whether the NATCO day for T-Mobile and HTC has already passed or is yet to happen, we do not know (nor do we know if other carriers have already finished).

What we do know is that these eight mobile phones are all impressive. But none are as impressive as the frontline device, the HTC Bravo.

This Android smart phone runs on a Snapdragon 1GHz processor –a major spec missing in the HTC Hero and the upcoming Espresso. It will also have a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen that is HD-ready as well as a 5 mega pixel camera with 720p video recording capabilities. The only thing weak about this device is the internal memory, which the leaked info places at 500+MB (micro SD card support is reported to be only up to 16GB).

Still, the bravo stands as one of the best devices we have heard about so far (in terms of hardware) and it will do well against the likes of the Snapdragon powered XPERIA X10 and the HD Kurara.

The new update on the Bravo is that the device will be launched during the second quarter of 2010. This coincides with earlier reports that the devices in the leaked document will be out by April of next year.

We Love Leaks: HTC’s 2010 Line Up

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

HTC Bravo2010 will see the rise of five Android mobile phones from HTC –and one sports a Snapdragon processor, an HD camera and an AMOLED touch screen.

For those who are wondering what the source is this glorious news is, it is everywhere on the web right now. Some folks might have decided that the disappointment over the Touch.B not being an Android phone should be alleviated by telling the world that HTC has five Androids ready to spring.

The leak is a HTC’s 2010 lineup, featuring a host of Android devices and several impressive Windows Mobile phones. The leaked images clearly state that the WinMo phones will be using version 6.5, with Microsoft announcing that WinMo 7 is on the way, here’s to hoping that the devices have upgradeable operating systems.

Anyway, back to the Androids, there are five of them; the Bravo, Legend, Salsa, Tide and the Buzz. Of the five, the most exciting device is without a doubt, the Bravo. This mobile phone is the happy recipient of the 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, the 720p HD camera and the 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen. Originally, SE’s XPERIA X10 seemed to be the biggest toughest phone in the horizon, but with the Bravo’s specs, that status is about to change.

The Buzz has that distinct HTC look, simple, functional and black. This 528 MHz phone with a 3.2 inch QVGA capacitive touch screen is like a lite version of the Legend. Both devices sport integrated features for Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. The Legend has a 600 MHz processor and a sleeker look.

Androids are not the only devices in HTC’s future. As said, the leak also showed several WinMo devices. The WinMo phones are named Photon, Tera and Trophy. To further stress the fact that these phones are the business models, they all have business card scanners. All three phones will also be using HTC’s TouchFlo 3D user interface.
