There is a new HTC Desire version out there and only Orange is offering the device to their clients. The new Desire Black Edition has been confirmed to be part of Orange Mobile’s offerings for this April and this brings the number of the operator’s exclusive Android colors to two. This all black edition of the HTC Desire is both visually appealing and a much better deal than the regular version of the smart phone.
Aside from the black edition of the HTC Desire, Orange mobile is also offering the white version of the SE XPERIA X10.
The white version of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 was announced last week as an exclusive bonus for Orange. This is the special white color version of the Japanese Swedish joint venture’s very first Android smart phone. The handset runs on a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU which means that it will be running apps and features without noticeable slowdowns. The 4 inch OLED touch screen and the 8 mega pixel camera also help put this device in the high end category.
Anyway, back to the HTC Desire, this smart phone is the most impressive Android from HTC yet. The phone is pretty much the basis for the specifications of the Nexus One and also brings a few extra HTC-made features of its own.
Much like the Nexus One, the Desire comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen for high quality visuals and easy touch controls, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU for fast app and function loading as well as a 5 mega pixel camera. Added in to the Desire are the HTC Sense user interface and 720p HD video recording capabilities. Expect to see this handset available by the second week of April

Orange Gets Exclusive Colors on Android Devices
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010XPERIA X10 Now Available in Hong Kong
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010
Sony Ericsson’s first Android smart phone is now available for shipping from Hong Kong.
It is not that big a deal considering that by the time the device makes it to the UK, it will only be a few days ahead of the local launch. But if you really want to get your hands on the new XPERIA X10 as soon as possible, then scoot over to online retailer Play.com’s official website and order the Snapdragon Android smart phone online.
This smart phone has taken its sweet time before finally getting released. Sony Ericsson first announced the device sometime last year as the SE Rachael. Exact specifications were still scarce but it was already known that the phone would be an Android device. Later reports would confirm that it would be part of the XPERIA series, bringing rise to rumors that it would be using the latest 1GHz processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon CPU and the newer Android 2.0 version.
It was not until late October that Sony Ericsson finally announced the specs for the device; it would be named XPERIA X10 (as opposed to X3 which many believed) and that the device would indeed have a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU but only the 1.6 Donut version of the Android –at that time, only Motorola had a confirmed 2.0 version of the open source OS.
Recent reports have confirmed that an update to the latest Android OS will be available for the SE XPERIA device in order to bring it up to date with the new standards of Android phones. Aside from its impressive, high speed CPU, the X10 also comes with a 4 inch OLED touch screen, an 8 mega pixel camera and of course, support for AGPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G.

Sony Ericsson’s First Android Snapdragon – the XPERIA X3
Monday, November 9th, 2009
Hot on the heels of the world’s first Android Snapdragon smartphone in the Acer Liquid A1, Sony Ericsson takes a second crack at the world’s most powerful engine with its own Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 running Android. Rumours online have been “unofficially” confirmed that the Sony Ericsson handset under the code name Rachel will be out as X10, not X3 as initially speculated on. Slated to be released January 2010, barring any delays Sony is known for, the new handset has yet to get official announcement but “unofficial” technical specifications have been circulating the rounds of online mobile phone sites and forums.
High End Features
As gathered from online sources, notably from Expansys, the unofficial Xperia X3/X10 gets flagship treatment that stands out both on looks and features. First off it’s stylishly slim black body is just a delight to behold like its first Xperia X1. It’s a fashion accessory combining beauty and brains that is uncommon among fashion phones. Sony Ericsson didn’t even have to partner with Prada or Dolce & Gabbana to dress it up.
The “unofficial” technical specification reads an impressive array of features that make it not just Sony Ericsson’s top-of-the-line handset but gives the competition something to worry about. For one thing, its massive 4” Wide VGHA capacitive touchscreen delivers a truly satisfying mobile phone viewing experience.
Rivaled by the Acer Liquid A1, LG’s BL40 Chocolate and exceeded by the 4.3” display of the HTC HD2, the Xperia X3’s exquisite multimedia features gets a boost with its equally awesome 8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and 8x digital zoom. There’s VGA recording at a movie-grade 30 frames per second.
The Xperia X3 is a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on 2G and a twin band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA on the 3G network. It uses the powerful Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon clocked at 1Ghz and runs the latest Android 1.6 OS with a unique proprietary Rachel user interface from Sony Ericsson. This makes the Xperia X3/X10 the world’s second Android Snapdragon and the first Android Xperia handset. (The Acer Liquid A1 is the first Android Snapdragon.)
The front fascia sports a secondary camera for video calls on 3G. You get the usual WiFi 802.11 b/g (could be an upgraded 802.11n) and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR for high speed wireless data connectivity, GPS/A-GPS, video TV out and with both microUSB and USB 2.0 supported.
Internal memory is on par with 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM which the user can expand with a microSD slot supporting cards up to 32GB. Multimedia features are served with usual media players Sony is known for as well as a stereo FM receiver with RDS, Bluetooth A2DP for wireless stereo headsets and 3.5mm hack for High Fidelity headphones.
Availability
If Expansys were to be believed, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3/X10 should hit world markets by January 2010. As a flagship Android phone from Sony Ericsson, the mobile community can expect this to carry a premium price but the network carrier can whittle that down with a 24-month contract.

Unveiled? More Like Unleashed, the Xperia X10 is Really Out!
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009
The news article down at What Mobile says that Sony Ericsson recently unveiled the much leaked Xperia X10. Well, from the way the news is breaking all over the mobile community, the news feels more like its spreading like wildfire, and we are all adding fuel to the flames. I am not surprised. The X10 deserves this much attention. I just finished mopping up my own drool after going through the press release and I must say that I want more; this phone is just showing lots of promise. The 4 inch display matches the size on the HTC HD2, but since this is a Sony screen we are talking about, the X10 screen will be much better hands down.
Before anyone call on me for blatant fanboy-ing, I would like to add that deep inside, I loathe the original Xperia X1 and X2. Most particularly the X2, the announcement about Sony Ericsson abandoning the Windows OS could not have come earlier. If I could change reality, I would make it so that the X10 is the first Xperia mobile phone. I am still a little confused about what else Sony is planning for the touch screen, it does not appear to be multi touch compatible.
Images of the X10 have been popping up this week and we are now seeing more and more details of the actual device itself. The main design is a little ho-hum, and I am definitely getting one in black. The main draw is, of course, the Snapdragon processor. Android on 1GHz is just pure bliss to me. I can’t imagine why it took them so long to make this mobile phone. The only thing I am hoping for now is a version of the X10 with a physical keyboard and I’m all set to go.
New Images Surface Of Sony Ericsson Xperia X3
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
Mobile phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson has had rumours surrounding it for some time now regarding the possibility of a new device running under Google’s Android operating system, known as the Xperia X3, the Rachael and most recently the Xperia X10 – and it seems the handset had just been spotting in the wild, and some new specifications have finally come to light.
These new pictures were first spotted online this week and while they aren’t of the highest quality they do give us a pretty good impression of the mobile phone. We can tell you that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 is definitely one of the more attractive phones to run under the Android operating systems in the looks department.
As far as the newly revealed specifications go things look good, although these are still just unconfirmed rumours at this stage. Apparently we can expect to see the Xperia X3 hit shelves boasting a 1 GHz processor, an impressive 4 inch touch screen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution and allegedly an 8.1 mega pixel camera sporting flash and video recording functionalities – as well as the standard 3.5mm headphone jack and a number of different options in terms of connectivity.
If these specs are proven to be real then the new mobile phone is likely to be widely popular, especially in this age of social networking obsession – an 8 mega pixel camera to snap and upload to Facebook is a must for plenty of people, teenagers in particular.
It is expected that the company will announce the new Android model sometime next month, although it will likely be debuting as the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 rather than the Xperia X3 or the “Rachael”, which begs the question – Just what happened to X3 though 9?
Sony Ericsson Rename Upcoming Xperia X3
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009
Some new information has just been leaked which claims the soon to be released Sony Ericsson Xperia X3, sometimes referred to as “Rachael”, will not be coming to us with the X3 tag as originally expected, but most likely as the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. This has not been confirmed yet, so we will be waiting until it is released to know for sure. (The expected release date is in February next year.)
The speculation all points to the new Xperia, running under the Android operating system, being announced sometime early next month, although this new leaked information suggests, as mentioned above, that we wont actually be able to purchase the mobile phone until early in 2010.
Along with the leak a supposed insider reported that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mobile phone boats a very respectably large screen, is surprisingly thin and also feels very light when compared to its predecessor, the Xperia X2. The user interface is said to look very friendly and does not bare any resemblance to that of the HTC Hero. Right now the specifications for the newly named Xperia X10 line up with what we previously reported they were expected to be.
If you missed that report, some of the key points were Bluetooth, microSD card support for to 16 GB, an 8 mega pixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, Wi Fi connectivity, mini USB and support for push email functionality, all on a TFT capacitive touch screen of 4 inches.
All we can do now is wait and see whether or not these rumours become fact – and wonder what happened to Xperia X3 through X9.
The First Android from Sony – The Xperia X3
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
The internet mobile phone sites are buzzed with the announced first Android mobile phone from Sony Ericsson. For a long time, we have known code name “Rachel” to be percolating a radical new phone and speculations are rife that it would be another flagship Xperia. Well, the Expansys site has gotten wind of the new phone with cool pictures and more-or-less complete feature list that’s quite impressive. Looks like Rachel will be released as the Sony Ericsson Xperia 3.
A mobile phone to die for
From pictures on the net, there are good enough reasons to say that Sony Ericsson has a sure hit on its hands. The form design alone gives Xperia 3 a unique appeal to the hip crowd wanting a full-featured fashion phone to match or better the iPhone. There’s an expansive 4” screen said to display at 800×400 pixels which makes it one of the largest out there.
The one impressive feature is its 8-mega pixel camera which is presumably a Cybershot heritage. With 8x digital zoon, autofocus, LED flash, image stabilization and face/smile shutter, it should be no surprise it will be a force to reckon with the camera phone markets. VGA recording is support though the site is quiet on what frame rates are used.
Internet browsing should be a breeze. It’s basically a quad-band GPS/GPRS/EDGE smartphone and a dual-band 3G with support for high speed HSDPA and HSUPA networks.
Europe and Asia can now own one
All the other features are pretty much competitive with you have out there for any mobile phone in this class and price range. Expansys is already busy taking in pre-orders but with the price still in limbo. Fans in the US may have to wait a bit longer as Expansys orders only apply for European and Asian markets. We hope the price won’t be a barrier to owning one. But don’t expect this phone to be dirt cheap.
A Promise of New Experience from Sony – The Xperia X3
Friday, August 21st, 2009
The Android OS gets another boost with the first Sony Ericsson mobile phone to use the new platform – Xperia X3. Code-named “Rachel” in its development stage, the new handset has a few specs already revealed in the electronics shop Expansys site. It certainly packs a wallop, apart from its gorgeous design that is sure to take the market by storm.
Amazing Flagship Feature Set
Initial peek into its features suggest no less than a flagship model from Sony Ericsson is in the works. Here are some of the highlights
- It is a Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and a Dual-Band 3G with HSDPA and HSUPA for a truly fast web surfing and download speeds over the internet

- Walkman Media player support for all the popular audio and video codecs come standard with VGA video recording as well.
- There’s the expected support for Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support and an alternate music standard 3.5mm stereo audio jack fir using your favourite stereo earphones.
- It has microSDHC memory slot support and presumably should go as high as 16 GB.
- There’s also A-GPS navigation application built-in
- Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11g, mini-USB and Email support for MS Exchange are all there.
An Upscale Price for an Upscale Phone
While the company is still silent on its pricing, the Expansys site is already accepting pre-orders for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X3. With its leading features and elegant design, expect this first Android handset from Sony Ericsson to debut at an upscale price.
New Information on Sony Ericsson Rachael
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009
Sony Ericsson surprised most people by announcing that their highly successful XPERIA X1 was not a one-off phone but that the XPERIA brand was to become a range of phones. For some time now it has been known that there is to be an XPERIA 2, XPERIA 3, and XPERIA 5. One of these devices, originally thought to be the XPERIA 5, was codenamed the Rachael during development and had been attracting some attention.
It has now been revealed by Expansays UK that the Rachael is in fact the XPERIA 3 rather than the XPERIA 5. Expansays have also revealed some more information about the anticipated device’s specification, including reports that it is to run on Android rather than the Windows Mobile OS employed on the other XPERIA phones.
The XPERIA 3 is to feature a very spacious 4” touch sensitive display with a very sharp 852 x 480 resolution. There is an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, smile shutter, face detection and 8x zoom.
Some more information is available about the connectivity specifications with news that there is support for WiFi and Bluetooth as well as having 10Mbps HSDPA.
No confirmed date has been set for release although the XPERIA 3 is now available for pre-order from selected retailers and more information will likely become available closer to its release.
