The new T-Mobile G2 Touch has experienced considerable success in the UK since its release in July of this year. It has been received warmly by users and critics alike. Aside from its unique yet familiar design (it sports the candy bar form factor but with a semi-elevated button area just below the screen), the G2 Touch has also been given rave reviews because of its list of impressive features and functions.

Mobile Specifications

The G2 Touch has the dimensions of 112 x 56.2 x 14.4 mm and a total weight of 135 grams. It is a quad band device on the 2G network (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) and also functions as a dual band mobile over the 3G network (HSDPA 900 / 2100). Data connectivity options are complete on the G2 touch which includes support for GPRS (Class 10), HSCSD, EDGE (Class 10), 3G (HSDPA 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA 2.0 Mbps), WLAN (Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth connectivity.

The G2 Touch’s 3.2-inch TFT capacitive touch screen has a pixel ratio of 320 x 480 pixels and is able to display up to 65K colours. Aside from the usual accelerometer censor, the screen also features a multi-touch input method, as well as a Sense UI.

Basic Features

The T-Mobile G2 Touch is another Smartphone that runs Google’s Android operating system (version 1.5). This is definitely a good thing for the G2 Touch as this particular OS has also been receiving praises for its excellent performance. The Android OS runs in conjunction with the G2 Touch’s 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM 7200A processor and a 288 MB RAM.

Also on board the device are a 5-Megapixel camera, a GPS receiver, a 3.5 mm ear jack, and a multi-format media player. However, the lack of an FM radio is a notable absentee on the G2 Touch.
